James 1:3-4 The Trying of Your Faith Worketh Patience
James 1:3-4 (KJV) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
The Apostle Paul paraphrases these verses thus in Romans 5:1-3 (KJV) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Faith that is tested and proven produces the fruit of patience. This spiritual virtue, the Holy Spirit’s fruit, of patience under testing, brings victory.
The Bible character Job was sorely tested. He endured, bore under the tension and the Lord finally delivered him – James 5:11 (KJV) Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. Amen.
