John 11:15, 25-26 Let Us Go to Him
John 11:15 (KJV) And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. … 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Lazarus had died. Jesus was not there before death stuck Lazarus. Jesus had allowed Lazarus to die to fulfil the purpose of God to understand the reality of the resurrection of the dead.
And so when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He was ascertaining the truth concerning the conquering of death. The resurrection will authenticate the doctrine of eternal life that Jesus preached.
Indeed, Jesus is pointing His disciples to believe He is the Christ, the Giver of eternal life. Amen.
