Isaiah 61:10 I Will Greatly Rejoice in the LORD

Isaiah 61:10 (KJV) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. 

The prophet Isaiah extolled the LORD. He said, “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD.” This rejoicing came from the very depths of his being, he testified, “My soul shall be joyful in my God.”

The reason for his great joy, he exclaimed, “For He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.”

God has through His Christ accomplished the work of redemption for sinful men. Isaiah has been graciously clothed with the garment of salvation, with the robe of righteousness as he looks forward to Christ’s first coming to live a perfect life and to die to cloth men’s shame and nakedness as a result of their sin.

God’s saved ones are the bride of Christ, adorned with her jewels, preparing to be received by the bridegroom, Christ, decked with ornaments. Come, Lord Jesus Come. Let His church be ready. Amen.
