Psalm 119:18 Behold Wonderous Things Out of Thy Law
Psalm 119:18 (KJV) Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
The psalmist prayed that the LORD may help him understand His law. He pleaded for the LORD’s grace to open his eyes so that he may see His message for him.
Understanding God’s law, he knew, was life to him so he asked in earnest to the LORD – “that I may live, and keep thy word” (v17). The Apostle Paul likewise understood the veracity of God’s law that pointed him to Christ for his salvation when he said in Romans 8:2-4 (KJV) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
May the enabling life of the Spirit cause God’s people to understand His Word and do His holy will for their eternal blessing. Amen.
