Psalm 130:7 With the LORD Is Mercy and Plenteous Redemption
Psalm 130:7 (KJV) Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
The psalmist cried from a sea of trouble that is so deep in its depth that it threatened to drown him. His soul was depressed and he was despaired beyond measure. He could not measure the depths of his distress.
He is drowned in the depths of his trials and troubles but the LORD was with him to hear his prayer and still his heart to hope in Him. The LORD will surely be gracious. He was assured of help from God.
Israel is the reference to God’s people. Israel is linked to God by covenant promise. God’s sole witness to the nations of the world. Judgment begins with the house of God, redemption even so begins with the house of God!
Deuteronomy 7:6-7 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
This is the declaration of great hope. With God, there is mercy and He does save us to the uttermost. There is a way of God the depths of sin with God. It was God Himself who had to secure our redemption through His Christ. Amen.
