Lord’s Day, Vol. 13 No. 2

(1) 1 January

Reading of the Old Testament Books twice was launched using the Bible without chapters and verses so that members and friends may develop the spiritual discipline of reading through the Bible. 

Daily Devotion from selected verses is published in the church website and app for the edification of members and friends.

(2) 3 January

Prayer Meeting resumes with exhortation from the Book of Isaiah “Exaltation of the Righteous (2)” (Isaiah 1421-22) which began on 14 September 2022. 

(3) 7 January

Commencement on the series of messages “Opening the Old Testament” on the Lord’s Day.

(4) 8 January

Adult Sunday Class continues on the Book of 1 Corinthians.

(5) 28 January

BHBPC’s 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service. The theme was “How Excellent Is Thy Lovingkindness, O God” (Psalm 36:7a). Ten years marked a key milestone for a new church. Retracing our steps helped us to rest more assuredly in the LORD’s leading moving forward. The 10th Anniversary Photo Book was distributed.

(6) 4 February 

The 6th Anniversary of the Mandarin Service with the message “How Excellent Is Thy Lovingkindness, O God” (Psalm 36:7a).

(7) 9 March

The 9th Anniversary of YF/YAF was commemorated with “Children of Israel’s Faith” message taken from Hebrews 11:29.

(8) 24 March 

BHBPC’s 10th Annual Congregational Meeting was held after worship service with an exhortation from Psalm 93:4 for God’s people to rest in the Lord in a tumultuous world.

(9) 29 March 

Good Friday Service was held at the Worship Centre. Message: Numbered with the Transgressors (Mark 15:22-39). 

(10) 31 March

Sunrise Service was held in the William Booth Chapel with the exhortation “He is Risen” (Mark 16:1-20). 

(11) 11-14 June 

Family Bible Camp was held at Andaz Singapore. The theme “The Day of Christ is at Hand” (2 Thessalonians 2:2) with study of 1 & 2 Thessalonians.

(12) 1 July 

Beginning of the 7am Service with 108 meetings from 1 July 2024 – 30 November 2024 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in William Booth Chapel from 7am-745am. 85 exhortations on Genesis – Deuteronomy by Mr Lucas Lek and 23 exhortations on Psalm 90 and the Gospel of John by Pastor Lek. The messages were also on “live” stream.

(13) 1 September 

Gospel Rally 2024 was held at the Mandarin Service and the English Service in the Worship Centre with the theme “What Shall I do to Inherit Eternal Life?” (Mark 10:17-27).  There were seven new visitors for the English Service.

(14) 4 September

Baptism of Mdm Tan Gim Tin at the Singapore General Hospital.

(15) 11 September

Homegoing of Nerizza Boon. Vigil Services were held on 12-15 September. Funeral and burial on 16 September.

(16) 15 September

Baptismal Service was held on the Lord’s Day. Darren Ng Wei Lun and Felicia Kew Kim Eng were baptised. Ho Kai Pin Jonah, Ho Kai Yi Joshua, Lee Wen Xuan, Janeen were reaffirmed in the faith. Chua Wei Ting, Ho Kai Wen Isaac and Ho Lai Fung joined the church through transfer of membership.

(17) 27 October

Commemoration of 16th Century Protestant Reformation on Reformation Sunday, with a message entitled “The Reformation Wall” (Nehemiah 4:17-23; 5:15).

(18) 5 November

Homegoing of Mr Francis Chee Kam Heng. Vigil Services were held on 7 November. The funeral service and burial were on 8 November.

(19) 13 December

The Westminster Annotations Volume 1 (Genesis – Esther) was published and launched during the Old Paths Conference.

(20) 12-14 December

The Church’s 2nd Old Paths Conference was held at the Sofitel Singapore City Centre.  Theme: “The Westminster Confession”.

(21) 24 December

Planner 2025 was delivered for distribution. 

Christmas Praise Service was held at the Worship Centre with the message “Where is the King of the Jews?” (Matthew 2:1-21).

(22) 27 December

Holy Matrimony of Darren Ng Wei Lun and Felicia Kew Kim Eng at the Worship Centre.

Homegoing of Marie Paula Bredemeyer. Vigil Service was held on 27 December. 

(23) 29 December

Mdm Foo Shook Mun joined the church in membership transfer during the Lord’s Day Service.

(24) 31 December

 Year End Service was held at the Worship Centre with a message entitled “Blessings of the God Fearer” (Proverbs 14:26-27). 

II. 11th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service

God willing, we shall gather on 26 January for the 11th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church at the Worship Centre. The theme is “Sing Aloud Unto God Our Strength” (Psalm 81:1a).  with exhortation taken from Psalm 81.

May the Lord be glorified as we gather in thanksgiving to sing praise unto God. Amen.

III. Visit to Mdm Lim Chor Kheng

Visitation was made on 9 January to the home of Mdm.  Lim Chor Kheng together with her sister-in-law Mrs June Leong. Mdm Lim is now on palliative care on tube-feeding in her home with her helper Almah and husband Mr Yew. Do remember her in your prayers.

Recall Weekly Newsletter on 5 March 2023: 

“Thank God for bringing Mdm. Lim Chor Kheng, her husband Mr Yew and her helper Almah to church in an ambulance on 26 February 2023 for our Mandarin Outreach Service. Thank God for the co-labouring of Mr and Mrs Leong to reach out to June’s brother Mr Yew and his wife Mdm. Lim.”

Mdm Lim Chor Kheng was baptised on 24 March 2022 when she received the Lord. 

IV. Visit to Mr Chang and Margie

Home dedication for Mr Chang and Margie in their new home on 10 January. Thank God for a blessed time of fellowship.
