John 1:4 (KJV) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 

Jesus Christ is the eternal God, only begotten of the Father, in the beginning of no beginning. Jesus is God.

Christ is the Giver of all life – John 1:3 (KJV) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 

Most of all, He is the Giver of life to the closest of His creation to Himself, man, made in His image. So that man can experience not only the life He gives but His life in him. God is with us not only in the flesh as the Apostle John attested but in the spirit.

This life that man receives is light from Christ in His soul that delivers him from the darkness of his fallen nature – John 1:11-12 (KJV) He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Amen.
