1 John 4:9 (KJV)  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 

The evidence of God’s love toward us is the fact that He sent His only begotten Son into the world – John 3:16 (KJV)  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And the purpose of Christ coming is that we might live through Him. Here the word “live” speaks of having eternal life not just this limited time span on earth but have the prospect of heaven.

1 John 3:16 (KJV)  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Amen.
