An Exhortation to Our Beloved Youths
The Apostle Paul warned that men and women in our generation, living in the last days prior to our Lord’s 2nd Coming, would be “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4b). They would turn a cold shoulder to the worship of God, to holy living, to sobriety. They are drunken and neglect to give honour and glory to God with their hearts and bodies. It is a sad but sobering truth. This is just one of eighteen characteristics of a wayward lifestyles highlighted in 2 Timothy 3:1-4.

The Family of God
Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

To bear one another’s burden is to help one another, to care one for another. We are to do so as an injunction from God. We are to do so continually.

Naturally, we care for ourselves. The Lord tells us that the redeemed man cares not only for himself but also looks into the interests of others as his own. This is to fulfil the law of Christ.

(1) A Foretaste of Heaven
Psalm 133:1 “A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

The first Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church Camp was held from 12 to 14 June at Traders Hotel in Puteri Habour, Johor Bahru, located near the Tuas link. There were 50 campers. Thank God for safety granted to all campers throughout the camp. Our camp doctor, Dr. Lynn Yeo, was at hand to attend to campers’ medical needs.

Every father who is a God-fearer and walks in His ways is blessed of God, as testified in Psalm 128, “1 A Song of degrees. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. 2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. 3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. 4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD. 5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. 6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.”

(1) His Eye Is On The Sparrow
The hymn “His eye is on the sparrow” was written to encourage all who are some times tempted to be discouraged. Circumstances, sorrow, or trial come upon us and we can lose the joy and courage that should be ours.

This hymn was inspired by a couple, the Doolittles of Elmira, New York. For twenty years, Mrs. Doolittle had been confined to bed as an invalid. Her husband, a partial invalid, managed his business from a wheelchair.

One day, the evangelist Dr. W. Stillman Martin and his wife came to visit them. Together they had written the beautiful hymn “God Will Take Care of You,” with Mrs. Martin writing the words and Dr. Martin the music.

The Martins were deeply impressed with the joyful spirit that the Doolittles maintained in spite of their adversity. “What is the secret of your joy?”, Dr. Martin asked. “His eye is on the sparrow,” Mrs. Doolittle replied, “and I know He watches me.”

(1) BHBPC’s First Church Camp
As the days of our church camp (12 to 14 June) at Traders Hotel in Johor Bahru draw near, we are thankful for our organising committee, led by Bro. William Oh (Camp Master) and Bro. Richard Yeo (Assistant Camp Master), who are making all necessary arrangements. Please pray for the team as they make preparations. We have 47 registered campers as to-date.

(1) A Tribute to Mothers
Thank God for mothers. Today, we specially remember their influence in our lives. We remember their love, care and nurturing. The Bible teaches us in the fifth commandment to honour father and mother (Ex. 20:12 cf. Eph. 6:3). This is the first commandment pertaining to human relations and the only commandment with promise of blessing.

1) Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting
We are beginning a new series of bible studies on the Book of Daniel, entitled “Faithful Living in a Faithless World” for our Wednesday night prayer meetings. We encourage you to make an appointment with the Lord to come and pray with His people and for His people. We meet at our “Upper Room” called the “Praise Chapel” at 8pm. All are welcome.
