(1) Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
– A Majestic Melody Out Of Deafness
Being joyful is a hallmark of the Christian. Jesus said to His followers: “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full” (John 15:11). The Apostle Paul reminds us that one of the “fruit of the spirit is…joy…” (Gal. 5:22). A joyless Christian would be a great contradiction.
(1) In Times of Trial
And He went a little further, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt. (Matthew 26:39 In the hour of trial, our Lord Jesus was prayerful and obedient to the Father’s will.
Be good and obedient to their own husbands
Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus exhorted the women in his congregation to be a good and obedient wife to her own husband so that the word of God would not be blasphemed. The word “blasphemed” means “be reproached”.
The testimony of God’s people would either glorify or blaspheme the word of God. Being godly and possessing Christ-like character speak volumes of our faith in the Lord. It testifies of a higher wisdom and prudence of living that is consistent to the will of God as revealed in His Word.
