(1) Gospel Rally

God willing, we would have our first gospel rally on 30 August 2015 during the Lord’s Day Service. The message is “If a man die, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14).

This would be a great opportunity to reach out to our unsaved loved ones and friends. Do invite them to church and pray for God’s grace to prepare their heart to receive the gospel. May the Lord be praised, His name proclaimed and souls saved!

The Secret of the Christian’s Strength

For the weary and faint-hearted Christian endeavouring to wait upon God and walk with Him through trials and tribulations of life, God promise to give him renewed strength and victory.

Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Lessons from Noah’s Life

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

The world certainly does not know and realise the impending judgment upon planet Earth. Life goes on as usual. Eat, drink and be merry, lay up much goods for the future. The world seems to feel very secure with her make-belief sense of prosperity.

Dear readers, this is the deception today. It was the same deception too in Noah’s time, just before God brought a global flood that destroyed the entire old world.

Delight in the Sabbath

Psalm 92 is a psalm or song for the Sabbath. The praise of God is the theme. Aptly stated in verse 1, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.”

The psalmist experienced the abiding presence and unfailing care of God. He gave thanks unto God, sang praises with a solemn sound (v1-3). He set the Sabbath day as a day of joyful rest and worship.

(1) Thou Art My Rock

Psalm 71:3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

In psalm 71, God is described as our Rock, a safe refuge, strong, secure and dependable. In Him, we may continually rely (v3a) and find hope (v14). Even amidst the most trying persecutions in life, the psalmist teaches us to be strengthened in the LORD and to receive comfort to live in His strength (v16).

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

He was only five feet tall, with a large head made bigger by a huge wig, and with a hooked nose and a frail and sickly body. Such was the appearance of the illustrious Dr. Isaac Watts (1674-1748). As a young man he had proposed to a lovely lady. While rejecting his proposal, she said, “I like the jewel but not the setting.” Illnesses plagued him throughout his life, and for most of his last 30 years, he was an invalid.
